Luke was on bail and a week away from an important court date that would determine if he would be incarcerated for 5 months or walk free. He had been going to all of his counseling meetings and it looked like he would most likely get to walk out of that courtroom a free young man. Perhaps former college athletes just don't get the concept of responsiblity; perhaps most 19 year old guys are just completely dumb. We could not believe what we found among his belongings. It's as if he really wanted to be locked up again, as if the halfway house wasn't bad enough for him. He loved to talk about how many guys he had roughed up over "this and that," and didn't even seem to be regretful of his numerous petty thefts after he was emancipated from his parents.
